Dale Ramsay
Class Of 2026
Dale Ramsay set a standard of professionalism and leadership that continues to shape the KBOA today. The Dale Ramsay Officiating Award—presented to the member who consistently upholds the highest standards of conduct and excellence—stands as a testament to his legacy and the respect he earned throughout his career.
Dale’s achievements within the KBOA are unmatched. He earned the Member of the Year Award, the #1 Rated Official Award, the Gold Whistle Award, the President’s Award, and the Assignor’s Award, reflecting his consistency, reliability, and excellence at every level. In 2006, he was recognized statewide as the KHSAA Basketball Official of the Year
His on-court success included assignments to the Girls State Tournament in 1997 and 2005 and the All-A State Tournament in 2000 and 2003. But Dale’s impact extended far beyond his own whistle. As the Director of Intramural Sports at the University of Louisville, he taught an officiating class that produced many current KBOA members. Across all sports, he helped launch the careers of more than 150 officials at the high school and collegiate levels.
Dale also served the association for many years as an Observer, guiding, mentoring, and shaping officials in every stage of their development.
His commitment to excellence, education, and integrity remains one of the cornerstones of the KBOA—and his influence continues to be felt by every official who learned from him or followed in his footsteps.
