Jerry Hilpp
Class Of 2026
Jerry Hilpp is widely regarded as one of the top officials in KBOA history. His exceptional career included earning the Member of the Year Award, the President’s Award, the Gold Whistle Award, and being named the #1 Rated Official in 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2011. Jerry represented the KBOA at the Boys State Tournament in 1995, 1998, 2000, and 2012, as well as the Girls State Tournament in 1999 and the All-A State Tournament in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, he was honored as the KHSAA High School Basketball Official of the Year.
Beyond the accolades, Jerry’s legacy is rooted in his character. He was never about himself—he was always focused on helping other officials grow and succeed. On two separate occasions, Jerry was selected to work the State Tournament and voluntarily declined, choosing instead to give other officials the opportunity to experience that honor.
Jerry was known for his reliability, humility, and strong leadership. He was a role model to officials across the association, and smaller officials were often told to emulate Jerry Hilpp because of his impeccable mechanics, professionalism, and consistency.
His selflessness, integrity, and dedication continue to define what it means to be a KBOA official.
