Bobby McGrath is one of the most accomplished and versatile officials to emerge from the KBOA. A former Assigning Secretary, Bobby earned the John Heldman Dedication to Excellence Award in 1980, was a #1 Rated Official, and received the association’s highest honor—the Gold Whistle Award. His outstanding performance on the court led to assignments at the Boys State Tournament in 1999, the Girls State Tournament in 1998 and 2006, and the All-A State Tournament in 1998.

Bobby’s success extended far beyond high school basketball. He officiated in the SEC in both basketball and football, showcasing rare versatility and earning national respect. After his on-field career, he continued to contribute at the highest levels, serving as an official and observer in the NFL. He also dedicated significant time to football officiating locally, working as the Assigning Secretary for the KFOA.

Bobby McGrath’s distinguished career, leadership, and commitment to developing officials across multiple sports have left a lasting mark on both the KBOA and the broader officiating community.
