Rip Hatfield

Rip Hatfield is one of the most influential figures in KBOA history, so much so that the KBOA Member of the Year Award now carries his name. Over the course of his distinguished career, Rip served as Assigning Secretary, worked as an Observer, and provided leadership as KBOA President in 1982–83.

He earned both the President’s Award and the Gold Whistle Award, reflecting the high regard in which he was held by the membership. On the floor, Rip was considered one of the top officials in KBOA history, supported by a successful collegiate officiating career and multiple state-level assignments. He represented the association at Boys State in 1985, 1986, and 1987, demonstrating the trust placed in his judgment and presence.
